About this listen

The year 1963 is a pivotal one in American history. With the nation divided in support of or intolerance for segregation and integration, strong opinions and political agendas abound and the separation of social class and religion profound. The Civil Rights Movement gains newfound momentum, and the times are in the midst of change and the entire country in a state of unrest. All know that things are on their way to never being the same again, and few are willing to embrace the transformation.

A Different Place & Time is a coming-of-age story following four high school kids from Pennsylvania as they struggle to navigate their way through this tumultuous period while attempting to hold true to themselves, their own views, and their personal identities.

In their teenage worlds, societal pressures, bigotry, and politics takes a backseat to friendships, first loves, and basketball. However, when they find themselves confronted with the current ways of racial tensions face-to-face, they are forced to choose a path; to allow themselves to be influenced by the acceptable standards of their environment or to have the courage to follow their hearts on the road less traveled. Theirs will lead to awakening, self-discovery, and the realization of their limitations.
