Really enjoyed this book. I loved the way it was written and David Monteath is one of my favourite Narrators which is always a plus for me when the storyline has even one Scottish person featured. He doesn't make all Scots sound the same, ie like Mel Gibson in Braveheart! The story was interesting and I found myself picturing Edinburgh, in particular, as it was in those days. I also liked Jonas and liking the main character is essential for me if I am to listen/read to the end. Am looking forward to the rest of the series.

Brilliant narration and an enjoyable story outwith the weakest of plots, which was off-putting from the start. It actually spoiled the book as a whole.

For me it provided less balance of the historical and characters. More inclined to description of the battle and fight scenes. Not for me

Excellent storytelling vary ably narrated. Jonas Flint emerges as 18th century James Bond working for a government agency.Really enjoyed listening to it.

A good storyline, well written and equally well narrated. The Jacobites never had much luck and this story cleverly weaves into the background the pre-emptive actions that led to 1715 rising. Enough intrigue to keep you guessing, enough history to make you want to read more.
