In Mark 3:13-35, Jesus sovereignly appoints the Twelve, recreating Israel around Himself as the new center. His family thinks He’s out of His mind, while scribes accuse Him of being possessed by Beelzebub. Jesus exposes their folly, warns of the unpardonable sin, and redefines true family: “Whoever does the will of God is My brother and sister and mother.”
Jesus cannot be controlled, He is Lord. Will we co-opt Him for our agendas, or joyfully obey and enter His family?
