There are some losses that leave a permanent echo in the culture, and this is one of them.

On July 10, 2026—as the Bahamas celebrated its 53rd Independence Day—we tragically lost ten beautiful souls in a plane crash in North Andros. Among them was my good, good friend, my family, and my child in this music: the legendary DJ Fresh International.

Back in 2017, I had the privilege of introducing Fresh to the Soca world. Watching his rise was pure joy. He didn't just play music; he felt it. Known to everyone as "The Drumming DJ," he quickly became the premier Soca DJ in the Bahamas because of his fearless spirit, his incredible musicality, and a heart that was always willing to listen, try, and grow. He wasn't just a brilliant business mind; he was a beautiful soul who wasn't afraid to fail on his way to greatness.

More than a colleague, Fresh was my family. This episode of Wake Up Soca Party is a heavy one, poured out in tears and absolute love. It is a dedicated tribute mix for my fallen feter.
