Critic reviews
“The authentic American apocalyptic novel…I venture that no other living American novelist, not even Pynchon, has given us a book as strong and memorable as Blood Meridian.” (Harold Bloom)
"McCarthy is a writer to be read, to be admired, and quite honestly envied." (Ralph Ellison)
"McCarthy is a born narrator, and his writing has, line by line, the stab of actuality. He is here to stay." (Robert Penn Warren)

Poe's gruff rattling tones lazily yet clearly enunciate each of McCarthy's carefully selected words, to describe both tremendous beauty and terrible violence which equal lucidity.Outstanding!

If you are not a native speaker, it is like hell to listen to this recording. But it's not due to the reader's performance nor the qualities of the book itself, but rather because of the way they work together.
I much regret not reading it and I believe that it would be the most proper way to truly feel the story and engage yourself in it.
Otherwise, it is a true gem. So different from everything you would imagine. It is a strange mixture of meaningless slaughter and brutality on one hand and deeply philosophical narratives, presented through the most simple words and emotions.
I was touched by the ouroboros motives about the never-ending, never-changing, self-destructive nature/faith of mankind.
The narrator conveyed the dull, senseless atmosphere perfectly in his characteristic, primarily monotonous, yet somehow pleasing and calming manner.
A deeply brutal odyssey
