Everyone in my small town thinks I’m the sweet one in the Bedd family, but after a year of financial drama on our farm and a lifetime of being in my hot brothers’ shadows, this kindergarten teacher needs to blow off some steam.

When I meet a sizzling hot reality show chef named Bacon, that steam quickly becomes an inferno and before I know it, my one-night-stand has me screaming “Yes, Chef!” all night long.

All I wanted was one day to escape my small-town existence, forget my troubles and live it up in the city.

Well, I got my wish.

You know what else I got?

Pregnant.

Now I have to face the unforgettable man I left behind.

He’s salty that I lied to him and left him while the sheets were still warm. I don’t blame him one bit, but the clock is ticking until my little pork belly finishes curing and I am determined to thaw his heart before that happens.

This is the fourth book in the Farm 2 Forking series, a small town romantic comedy. This is a multi-author series. I liked this small town romantic comedy. Bacon and Colleen's story is fun, sweet, passionate, engaging, and heartfelt. Alastair Haynesbridge & Erin Mallon did an excellent job bringing these characters, and this story to life. I enjoyed it. I highly recommend this series!

Hilarious, heartfelt small-town romcom! I just loved it!

The Farm 2 Forking series continues with book #4, Bringing Home the Bacon. This time, we get the fun, cute, and hilarious romance story of Colleen Bedd and reality TV chef Bacon. Colleen is a small-town kindergarten teacher. The only female sibling, her life has so far been on the sheltered side and she has always done what was expected of her. She also finds herself not connecting that well with friends and often has to cut them off because they seem to be using her only to get to her brothers. Needing some time for herself, she decides to go somewhere where she is unknown, so she takes a trip to the big city. Whilst there, she ends up as an audience member for the taping of a reality TV cooking show. Afterwards, she decides to further step out of her comfort zone and do something wild by flirting and propositioning one of the chefs from the show. Meanwhile, Bacon is living his best life and his dream as a chef. He ends up competing on a reality TV cooking show. When he is mildly propositioned by Collen, he is instantly attracted to her; sparks fly and they spend one night together. But when she leaves without a trace in the morning, can he find the gorgeous audience member he had a connection with? And can he find happiness with her?

This fun and hilarious, one-night stand, accidental pregnancy, small-town romance was just what I needed! I absolutely adored this book. I especially enjoyed how Collen and Bacon find their way to each other initially, and back to each other later. The connection was instant and hot 🥵 but I really enjoyed them slowly discovering the true love they had for each other, and building a life together. They were just so perfect for each other. It was also great seeing the characters from previous books and other side characters appear in this; Grandma Ethel remains one of the best and one of my favourite characters in this series. I’m definitely still enjoying this series and highly recommend picking this up if any of the tropes sound interesting to you.

Narrated by the author herself, Erin Mallon, and Alastair Haynesbridge. Mallon was excellent at portraying the caring, independent, and passionate woman that was Colleen. Whilst Haynesbridge was perfect at bringing forth the swoony, thoughtful, caring, and supportive nature of Bacon. I loved both of their voices for these characters. As always, they brought the characters in this series, and their stories to life!

Bringing Home the Bacon by Erin Mallon can easily be read as a stand alone in the Farm 2 Forking series. The only other book I've read in the series was For Fork's Sake by Karen Grey, which was about Colleen's twin, and I didn't feel like I was missing information not having read the first two books.

Bringing Home the Bacon is a surprise, but not secret, pregnancy story. I like that there are unique characters and some silly situations, and I think this story would translate really well to audio.

Update: I listened to the audio version and decided to add a star to the rating. The audio version is narrated by Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge. They do a great job with the narration, especially with the teasing between the characters. It came across as more fun when it was performed.

I received a copy of the book at my request, and the opinions here are my own.

Great audio performances

Narration was nice to listen to, the story was enjoyable and I didn't realise how much I would enjoy a story with the MMC named Bacon! Lots of laughs and enough spice to want to go back and have another listen.

A fun listen

UPDATE: December 2024 ⇒ 🎧🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧🎧 ♾️ STARS

When I 📖read📖 this story back in July/August of this year, I only thought I had a good time because let me tell you that 🎧listening🎧 to this story goes beyond a good time. It’s not even just a party. It’s a "4th of July fireworks NYE ball dropping" blast of epic LOL proportions! Every word I mentioned in my review in regard to any feelings I had with this story, Erin Mallon & Alastair Haynesbridge magnified tenfold! I am so ridiculously proud of this narration that I need everyone to know it doesn’t even come close to a 5 STAR experience. I don’t know what rating would be proper, but it is way above a lot of the experience I’ve already had with performances that I’ve rated 5 stars! Do with that information what you will :)

📚📖eBook REVIEW📖📚 ⇒ AUGUST 2024 ✨5 STARS

LISTEN, if you’re a rom-com fan and this blurb doesn’t have you #oneclicking STAT, you might have to reevaluate your rom-com fanaticism. I said what I said :) I mean … “Yes, Chef!” and “little pork belly finishes curing” … lololol, amirite?

So, it turns out Erin Mallon is not just a fantastic narrator, she’s also a rom-com word wizard!

I haven’t laughed with this much abandon while reading a book in a hot minute! It was absolute joy to be lost in this story for a handful of hours! And you know, here’s the kicker that puts this story above 5 stars … she took *real world* circumstances/issues and incorporated them into her *fictional world* as part of *every day life*. It was refreshing to read about circumstances such as depression, grief, and abandonment being represented positive or rather not using said circumstances as a way to drive the story into an emotional angsty level. It’s a romantic comedy featuring people with real-life circumstances that would normally be used as a plot device to drive a story into a cryfest. Erin didn’t do that but also was respectful in the representation.

I enjoyed the heck out of this story because not only were the main characters an absolute hoot, but so were the secondary characters and the storyline was an easy and relatable tale. I loved the energy and spark of the story and all the characters. I loved the setting and the small-town shenanigans and all the sibling love! It’s a great story and even tho this is only my second read of the series, I know this is a great series. I feel it kids! I’ve carved out a couple of weeks in early September to start the series from the beginning so I can experience this entire family back-to-back. I am seriously looking forward to that time!
