Xavier Neal
From best-selling author Xavier Neal comes an all-new, witty, forced-proximity romantic suspense stand-alone novel....
The assignment is simple.
Don't let the client die.
Don't let her get kidnapped.
Don't sleep with her.
It's the last part that unexpectedly complicates things for me after I'm introduced to the most beautiful and brilliant woman I could've ever envisioned.
And it only gets worse when we have to stash ourselves away in a small town where our calculated cover is to be a recently engaged couple.
My new mission is now significantly harder.
Don't let her hate what's for dinner.
Don't let anyone else make her laugh more than I do.
And, most importantly, don't let myself actually fall for someone again.
After all, my job isn't to love my boss' sister.
It's to stop an unidentified threat from taking her - or die trying.

Blake, ugh this character speaks to me the most. She is freaking intelligent, not just smart, intelligent. And her twin brother wants to make sure she is safe. But in his attempt to do so, he doesn’t realize that he gives her the one thing she has needed.
Bronx, tasked with a job that would be life or death to him. If he lets anything happen to the target, he could just say sayonara and won’t even get to take pleasure in the reward for handling his task.
I absolutely loved reading their relationship build through the book. Blake was such a relatable character for me, I loved her so. Xavier really does her research when writing her books, and you can tell by how detailed and accurate she is. And that epilogue was everything to me.
Recommended for those that like steamy forbidden romances between the bodyguard and his guard.
Lacy Laurel!!!! One of my favorite female narrators was the perfect Blake for me. Alan Carlson was a smexy Bronx. Combine the two and they took this book up a notch!!

Lacy Laurel and Alan Carlson are a great narrating team. They have complimenting voices so that the story flows smoothly. I was able to get lost in the narration and it became like a movie in my mind. I hope to hear a lot more of this narrating pair.
Perfect amount of suspense and romance

This is the first book of Xavier's that I have read and it won't be my last. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Bronx and Blake. The chemistry between them was off the charts! I really enjoyed getting both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
Lacy and Alan did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would highly recommend this book if you like forbidden romances, forced-proximity romances, bodyguard romances, or romantic suspense.

The narration was well done. I thought Alan Carlson had a perfect voice and really well done voice modulation to play the multiple characters. Lacy Laurel also did well, although her male voice sounded a little bit forced and she has a strong drawl which didn't match Alan's interpretation but as separate narrators, they did well and I enjoyed living through the story by listening to their reading

Lacy Laurel and Alan Carlson are a great team. I love both of these narrators and were excited to see them working together. Laurel is wonderful playing strong women, and her portrayal of Blake is spot on! Carlson gives us the manly Bronx with his commanding tone. I enjoyed this listen!
