He always knew: when his life came tumbling down, it would occur in public.

Campbell Flynn is fuelled by an appetite for wealth and admiration, controversy and novelty. An art historian and celebrity pundit, he has enjoyed a charmed career rubbing shoulders with oligarchs and aristocrats, fashion designers and fine artists, at ease with the highbrow and the mainstream.

Only now, the world is changing. Over the course of an incendiary year a web of secrets and crimes will be revealed, and Campbell Flynn may not be able to protect himself from the shattering exposure of all his privilege really involves.

It’s a great “state of the nation” novel, very well read, but possibly a bit over long

Amazing cast of characters reflecting the times we live in!

Caledonian Road takes you through the lives of a diverse cast of characters, giving us a snap shot of society today politically and socially. It highlights privilege, poverty, predjudice, stereotyping and takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Plus the narrator is outstanding!

Breathtaking!

A most thought provoking listen. I galloped through, binge listening in order to find out what was going to happen to the characters. so enjoyable I've bought Mayflies to read.

I had mixed feelings about this book the entire time of listening to it but I think ultimately I was meant to. It dealt with some incredibly interesting topical social issues in a very accessible way, which I really enjoyed. So ultimately it made for a great read, but strangely I can’t say I enjoyed my time listening to it. I think I’m going to have to listen again and I think I will probably enjoy it fully the second time of listening. There was a lot going on.
I would definitely recommend this book to young and old. It gives a very good snapshot of society in its current form.
I cannot overstate how exceptionally good the narrator was, truly the best narration i have heard.

A Behemoth of a book
