A twisted tale of murder, magic and salvation.

Heather Keynes’ teenage son died in a tragic car accident. Or so she thinks. However, deep in the countryside, an ancient evil has awoken...intent on hunting local residents. No-one is safe.

When Heather takes a closer look at a series of coincidental deaths, she is drawn reluctantly into the company of an odd group of elderly Guardians. Who are they, and what is their connection to the Great Oak?

Why do they believe only Heather can put an end to centuries of horror?

Most important of all, who is the mysterious old woman in the forest, and what is it that feeds her anger?

This was a very entertaining read. It's not full on horror but a dark atmospheric story that keeps you wanting to listen on.

Really good storyline, some parts got a little dull, but it soon picked up. Not sure I loved the ending, but still thoroughly enjoyable.

Gripping, mostly…

Unusual & entertaining

I have listened to quite a few titles on Audible, but none as well written and delivered (well done, Emma Powell) as this, so far.
There were one or two small grammatical errors, but then we're all guilty of that; and it didn't detract from the story.
Very few audio book narrators do it as well as Emma did; it must be difficult to keep up that standard of professional delivery through a long story.
I was hooked from the first paragraph!
The Pagan references were spot on - and I'm a Pagan.

Absolutely superb - more please!

Brilliantly written and very entertaining.
