In the darkest hour, the devil whispers loudest.

Blaze comes to Georgia seeking closure. Instead, he walks straight into a nightmare. When he travels to Coastal Georgia to honor his mother’s last wishes, he witnesses her childhood friend, Helen McCaskill, being attacked—and learns her granddaughter has vanished.

Something festers in the marshland. Bodies surface in the reeds, carved with warped symbols. Locals whisper about “Devil’s Hour” —a ritual nightmare run by a Haitian priest and protected by a Savannah dynasty with wealth older than the city—masters of trafficking, terror, and midnight markets where human lives are bartered.

What begins as a simple visit spirals into a war. To find the girl, Blaze will walk into hell. To save the lost, he will burn every last shadow to ash. Because the devil picked the wrong hour to rise.

This one really pulls no punches. You get a proper look at Blaze’s emotional side early on, which was dead good, but once he realizes these sickos are hunting innocent lasses, he goes completely rogue. The atmosphere in the creepy marshes is spot on. If you want a fast, hard-hitting listen for your commute, this is the one, mate.

Absolutely stellar stuff from Bill Runner. The whole plot revolving around an old-money dynasty running a midnight slave market is proper sickening, but it makes Blaze’s righteous fury so bloody satisfying to listen to.

Unreal tension throughout this

Blaze is a proper machine, isn't he? Went down to Georgia for a bit of a quiet trip to honor his old mum, but it all kicked off massively. The action in the swamps is just mental—he absolutely obliterates the bad guys like a one-man demolition squad. The narrator does a blinding job bringing out his grit. I couldn't stop listening, pure class.

Gave this a go on a whim and I’m completely blown away. It’s got a proper dark, gritty vibe to it. The villains are completely vile, which makes it even sweeter when Blaze starts wrecking them and their whole operation. The narration has a real weight to it that suits the heavy story. Best thriller I’ve heard in ages.

Total blockbuster of a book

Bill Runner has absolutely smashed it with Book 13. Blaze is in proper hostile territory here, dealing with a dodgy priest and a right nasty Haitian gangster in Savannah. The narration is top-notch, really gravelly and menacing. It’s an absolute roller coaster that didn’t let up for a single second.

Proper gripping from the start
