Resisting an irresistible force wears you down and turns you out.

I know - I've been doing it for years.

I may not have a musical gift of my own, but I've got a nose for talent and an eye for the extraordinary.

And Marlon James - Grip to his fans - is nothing short of extraordinary.

Years ago, we strung together a few magical nights, but I keep those memories in a locked drawer and I've thrown away the key. All that's left is friendship and work.

He's on the verge of unimaginable fame, all his dreams poised to come true.

I manage his career, but I can't seem to manage my heart. It's wild, reckless, disobedient - and it remembers all the things I want to forget.

Contains mature themes.

The story is full of emotional moments and Kennedy Ryan made me feel a lot in here. The book is a really slow burn, but when the fire catches it combusts like an inferno 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
There is also a lot of angst in many forms, and racial discussion as the mix race couple do their best to overcome hurdles due to their skin colour.
Over all it is a sad, poetic, intense, emotional, steamy story that was difficult to put down despite my mood needing a more upbeat book.
Unfortunately I was doing hybrid reading 📚 🎧 (hopping between audio and kindle or both) and the audio doesn't match the book several times. Which was a shame.
Narration was outstanding, I would listen to Jakobi Diem read anything, his voice is that enticing and his interpretation makes any tale he narrated even better. Maxine Mitchel was also great, even if I imagined Bristol with a different voice.

Lots and lots of emotions 😭😱😵😲😂😍😤🤗😖😳💖

I knew this was going to be a long book, and it took a while to get into it. In fact I nearly stopped listening at one point because I couldn't click with the characters. In fact Bristol wound me up at first. However it was worth persevering because it ended up.being a great story with a fab twist at the end. You can tell the author had done her research, and I learnt new things.

Worth persevering....

It's been a month since I read this book and it still lives rent free in my head. Grip and Bristol's story continues on from Flow, and the narrators performed it with passion and understanding.
Thought provoking, and beautifully written by an author who isn't scared to write about tough, real life subjects. A must read!

Lots of thought provoking topics discussing mix races racial prejudice due to peoples skin colour. This was a difficult book to put down I was totally gripped all the way through. There was lots of research done on different cultures and the diversity of people lifes Maxine and Jakobi did a fantastic job narrorating the MCs The rap song at the end BRUISED was superb.Highly recommend.
