Do you feel like your appetite for food is completely out of control? If so, you will understand the misery and obsession this usually brings. You may believe the answer is simply to try harder to control your eating. This doesn't work! If it did, you'd have done it by now. I'm here to tell you there is another way.

I lost nearly a decade of my life to binge eating. Today I am an eating disorder psychotherapist, who works alongside people who want to develop a healthy relationship with food and body image. This book brings together what I learned on my personal journey, as well as through helping others. I share what we need to understand, and do, to break free from the cycle of overeating.

You will learn:

  • How trying to control your appetite leads to out-of-control bingeing.
  • How your intentions can help (or hinder) you.
  • How to use the RALIC method to free yourself from compulsive eating.

If you've had enough of battling with bingeing, and if you are ready to end the war within, give this book a chance to show you how!

I came to this book as someone who's been a long-time advocate of intuitive eating, so I wasn't sure how much new ground it could cover for me. It covered a lot. I Can't Stop Eating takes the principles of intuitive eating and deepens them with something I've often found missing elsewhere: a genuinely compassionate, psychotherapeutically-informed understanding of the emotional drivers behind our relationship with food and our bodies.

Written from the perspective of a specialist psychotherapist, it's both warm and rigorous. There's a huge amount of content packed in here, but it never feels overwhelming, everything is explained in plain English, with real care for the reader. It's the kind of book that meets you where you are rather than prescribing at you.

The Audible edition is excellent. The narration is wonderfully clear, the pacing is spot on, and despite how much ground the book covers, it's easy to follow and absorb as you listen.

I'd put this comfortably in my top ten self-help books of all time. Whether you're new to these ideas or, like me, have lived with them for years, there's something genuinely valuable here.
