When journalist Ellie looks through her newspaper's archives for a story, she discovers a letter from 1960, written by a man asking his lover to leave her husband....

In 1960, Jennifer wakes up in hospital after a car accident with no memory. And then, when she returns home, she uncovers a hidden letter, and begins to remember the lover she was willing to risk everything for.

My first impression of the book was quite wrong. The prologue presaged a story about 30 somethings working in London that didn't appeal. Instead this is a beautifully crafted exploration of the pleasures and pains of love affairs 40 years apart. The two relationships are cleverly intertwined as young journalist, Ellie, investigates a mysterious love letter found in the archives of the newspaper where she works, while at the same time wrestles with her obsessive love of a married man. This is not sugary romantic fiction, but an epic, moving, evocative and memorable book that I highly recommend.
Julia Franklin is an excellent reader.

A lovely book

Nearly gave up after the first chapter but then book blossomed into a deeply moving and intriguing love story set in the 60 s and told through a series of love letters. To say any more would give too much away!Beautifully narrated . Highly recommended!

Get past first chapter and it's a wonderful 60 s set love story! Deeply moving and involving.

Having read 2 other Jo Jo Moyes books, this was a bit disappointing. I felt at times the story dragged on, leaving wondering whether I would keep listening or not. I did and to a degree, I did enjoy this book. Its not a page turner but overall I did kind of enjoy it. Having loved so much: Me before you, this was no where near as good. Also, I became a bit irritated with the over use of words such as 'sodium lights' and other words that the author used too often as to diminish their value and impact. Ok but could not recommend as a really good read.

Beautifully-crafted storyline. One of those books I have been awake until 2am to listen to 'just another chapter.

Bitter-sweet story of love, passion and longing.

Beautiful, Just Beautiful

This was my second book by Jojo Moyes - quite different from the last one but equally entertaining and an interesting and well thought out storyline.

Have looked at the library and all her books seem quite different, different eras, countries, genres and fully intend to try more.

Excellent
