About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

In the beautiful lavender fields of Provence, harvest season – the busiest time of the year – is about to start. Del is looking forward to a new group of pickers arriving from all over the world to help out at her little lavender farm. But just as they’re due to appear, some bad news turns her world upside down.

Then Del’s partner Fabien is given the chance to rejoin his old band for one last tour – and Del wants him to seize the day. But is sending him away the right decision?

As the pickers arrive and the harvest gets underway, Del feels the mounting pressure of trying to keep everyone happy. Even her cooking – the thing she loves best – is suffering. Until the pickers, missing home and keen to find comfort through a home-cooked meal, share their recipes with her . . . and a supper club is born.

After all that’s happened, will the community come together once more? And when Fabian makes an unexpected return, will Del finally get her happily ever after?

I love this author's books but was slightly disappointed with this one. It moved much more slowly than her usual style and the main character made me want to not bother reading on
She became utterly boring with her continual moaning and self pitying and I wanted to shake her. It did get moving as more characters appeared but the ending was too far fetched, and I didn't feel the usual sadness I had finished the book. The narrator was excellent and was clever with accents.

This book is a continuation from Escape to the Farmhouse…..but it can easily be read as a standalone, as the original story is repeated quite a bit . Lovely to be reunited with these characters and see what happens next in their lives.
