Kai had survived the treacherous Mage trying to kill him in his own house. But new enemies loom over the horizon.
Having increased his personal strength and taking control over the City of Veralt, Kai had just began to learn the ropes of being a noble lord when trouble knocks on his door. Summoned by the Archine Tower that may or may not be the one trying to kill him, he moves to the capital with his trusted subordinates to dip his toe in the muddy waters of capital politics. To make matters worse, a beast wave threatens to crush over his city.
To fend everything and come out on top, Kai not only had to increase his budding strength and gather allies, he also had to realise that the history he knew might not be correct. Together with his Knight Killian and Administrator Francis, Kai of Sorcerer's Tower would stop at nothing to realise his potential and change the world.

Cool and Confident

I’m invested in the story, but the narration is very distracting at times.
The narrator was constantly switching from either a good or a really bad performance.
The MC is narrated well, but the performer lacks depth or skill in voices for other characters, this leads to farcical or hard to listen to voices being given to characters. Outside of the main character many voices come across very exaggerated, with many sounding constantly surprised, confused or dumb. It makes conversations, especially with the MC really disjointed and unnatural.
The women’s voices sounded as though they were developed by a teen looking to do a “make fun of” stereotypical and sexist girly girl voice to his friends, not narrate for an audio book. The MC’s maid comes across really dumb and disjointed, with no natural flow in conversation, when being performed, like the narrator is trying harder to make the characters sound different rather than nailing the story telling.
Other side characters are also done dirty with some cases of lots of added inflections through out a sentence, making it feel like each sentence has 3 questions in it. A real annoyance is a lack of control of emotional range, where the narrator is usually at the extremes, a side character is surprised or shocked, which becomes distracting.
Good world building and magic system, poor narration at times.
