About this listen

On an afternoon bike ride in the Blue Mountains Janine Shepherd's life was altered irrevocably. When the champion cross country skier in training for the Winter Olympics was hit by a truck, doctors warned her parents that she was not expected to survive. Even if she recovered, she would never walk again. Coming to terms with her shattered Olympic dreams, Janine focused every sinew of her being on healing. Her fighting spirit was rekindled watching small planes flying overhead. She said to herself, 'If I can't walk, I'll fly.' And fly she did.

I first saw Janine on Ted talks. I was inspired by her story and the strength she displayed as she spoke. I picked up the audio book immediately and as I listened to her speak I wept uncontrollably.

This indeed for me is about the story of hope. Her message portrayed that of determination, hardwork, persistence and belief.

Janine kept on and refused to give up despite the hard times she faced. Her story gives someone like me hope. It tells me I can achieve whatever I put my heart to.

I really enjoyed Marie-Louise's narration and voice. I could not stop listening to it. I enjoyed every bit of it!!!

A book on great perseverance & sheer determination
