About this listen

Caspien Deveraux was poison.

It took me years to realise that he hadn't been born like that. He'd been cultivated and nurtured by a careful hand and a bitter heart. When I first met him, he was a bud. One primed to bloom beautifully and deadly. One I should have torn out at the root.

I loathed him. I loved him. And until him, I hadn't known just how completely those two things could exist at once.

I feel like an emotional wreck right after finishing it! From start to finish it was superb- characters, setting description, relationships, the story evolving and unfolding. I want love from someone like Jude! Excellent narration of a book that has burrowed itself into my heart!
Thank you.
I will recommend it to every reader I meet!!

This book will stay with me for a long time!

I can't tell you how much I love this book. The story follows Jude and Caspien from mid teens into adulthood, from the Channel Islands, to Oxford and to London. Its a tale of an all consuming love and what a person will go through to protect the one they love. The narration is just superb, and Scarletts writing pure poetry. All in all perfection!

Haunting!

Of all the books I’ve listened to, Oleander is, without doubt, my favourite. The story is brilliant, and the narration takes it to another level.

The complexity of the relationship between characters, and the hope, pain and passion they experience is almost palpable. It’s a story I can’t stop talking about, and one that I’ll be listening to again and again!

I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Absolutely incredible

Firstly, the narration was sublime. As for the novel - brilliantly written. An interesting interpretation to the original novel while not being tied down it. For those who love CS Pacat's character 'Laurent', you'll see a similarity on Caspien. Definitely give it a go.

utterly beautiful prose and narration

Best m/m I've ever heard. My heart was in my throat constantly. Very well written. Also, the narration is outstanding, puts to shame all the other narrators I've heard before.

Great book, made even better by the amazing narration
