Part humour, part horrific and all sci-fi, this was an unexpected treat at the end of the year. I’ll be looking for more Tchaikovsky!

In this wickedly brief story we find an r/showerthoughts question taken to its most bizarre, hilarious, and forthright conclusion: If you were the last survivor of a war across time, what wouldn’t you do to preserve your own little slice of Eden?

While some of Tchaikovsky’s other series go on galactic-level space opera trilogies or rich fantasy dekalogies (yes I looked that up) this piece feels more personal, especially as it’s narrated by the author.

Ideal as a companion piece to Benedict Cumberpatch reading Carlo Rovelli’s “The Order of Time”, as there are no Caligulan orgies in that one.

Too short , I know its a short story but just as I got to like the characters it ended.

Starts inventively with a fun and caustic tone , which continues all the way through. Performed well, and one of the better audiobooks I’ve listened to this year…..Excellent all round - just a shame there isn’t more of it.

I bought this as I wanted to see if I liked the authors style before I try one of his lengthy books……
It sounded okay but I really wasn’t very excited to listen
but I finally did as I was out of other audiobook options……
Turns out to be one of the most enjoyable listens so far, it was a complete treat, enjoyed it so much.
I’ve re listened a few times, still makes me smile, and I will most definitely listen again.
The narration was perfect too.
