About this listen

When the sexy little brother of Aidan’s best friend suggests a hookup pact, it's the perfect storm for a bi-awakening . . .

Toronto Thunder quarterback Aidan Flynn always believed he was straight, until his close friend and favorite wide receiver signs with a team across the country. Distance opens his eyes and unlocks a desire he can’t deny. Even if his feelings aren’t returned, Aidan still wants to learn more about this part of himself.

Frustrated and a little heartbroken, the last thing he expects is for his crappy mood to get called out by his best friend’s little brother. Or for Levi to offer, on one drunken night, a pact: if Aidan never gets together with his guy, Levi will show him everything he’s been missing—and wanting—in bed.

It’s a stupid promise, fueled by booze and heartbreak, and Aidan expects that Levi will never call him on it.

Except Levi does. He shows up at Aidan’s house in Toronto less than two months later, not only willing to fulfill his side of the pact, but now signed to the Thunder as Aidan’s new right tackle. Aidan assumes it’ll be easy to get rid of him, but Levi is charming and persistent, and he not only ends up living in Aidan’s house, but sleeping in Aidan’s bed.

It’s easy and fun and the best hookup Aidan’s ever had in his whole life. It’s so good, in fact, Aidan starts to experience feelings he believed were long gone, traded away with his friend. Maybe with Levi in his life, love isn’t such a lost cause, after all.

They’re great on the field and between the sheets. But when Aidan’s past returns, he must decide whether Levi also has a place in his heart.

I am absolutely obsessed with Beth Bolden's football romances, and I can already tell the Toronto Thunder are going to turn me into a rabid fan once again. After meeting Aidan in his brother Riley's book, I knew Beth was going to write him a story that would make me fall head over heels, and his unexpected romance with Levi had me starry-eyed and swooning. There's something tantalizingly forbidden about a best friend's brother attraction, and between that and the fact that Aidan was still nursing a broken heart, these two had no business getting together. If I thought I could use the work dic ckmatized with a straight face, that's how I would describe the way the two of them glommed onto each other -- not insta-lust or rushed but a fierce sort of attraction that didn't take no for an answer. Don't even get me started on the way Levi's protective instincts spilled out on the football field, motivating him to step up and move into a more difficult position to make sure Aidan didn't get sacked during plays. The two of them brought out the best in each other on and off the field, and I quickly fell in love with the way they could be both playful and sincere with each other depending on the mood. Aidan's broken heart -- or at least, their assumptions about said heart -- was the main thing holding Levi and Aidan back from going all-in on a relationship, and that was only complicated by the surprise reappearance of "the one that got away". Even though I was kinda moaning about how mean Beth was for throwing that particular wrench in their path, I think it did both Levi and Aidan good to get that closure and move on. It was certainly entertaining to see the little green monster of jealousy running wild, and it put a lot of unsaid feelings into perspective for both men. Outside of the romance, I genuinely enjoyed how much football playing and camaraderie there was in this book. I was excited to meet the team and start sussing out which players might be getting their own books, and let me tell you there are some very intriguing options. I got invested in the football themed plotline as equally as I was in the romance, and I was full-on cheering for the team as they sized up different opponents and had to figure out a way to come out on top. In the end, Levi and Aidan floundered their way into an epic love affair, and I was thrilled by how happily their journey ended.

Aidan's time to shine!

Beth is without doubt one of the best sports romance authors out there. Since discovering her work through The Rivalry, I've gone on to read all of her books and enjoyed them all. I highly recommend Perfect Storm, it's the perfect start for the Toronto Thunder series and I can't wait for the next book.

Just finished listening to this audible version, narrated by Darcy Stark. He captures the emotions of Aiden so well, his unsurity at realising he's not as straight as he thought, and also his anxiety. He and his love interest, Levi, work so well together as a couple. Darby captures the development of their relationship so well. Highly recommended.

I enjoy Beth Bolden’s sports romances. I haven’t read them all and that was okay, but if you’ve read her Condor books, the enjoyment will be enhanced as you read this story.

Now, I’ve lived in Toronto and I have family who’ve been there for their entire lives. I love seeing my town showcased. That they would have an NFL team is a little much in credulity, but hey, this is fiction and I love an author felt Toronto was big and bright enough to have a spotlight. And yes, I love Thunder for a team name.

So the story begins in Michigan. Levi is pining over Aidan. Aidan’s pining over some guy named Mo (a former teammate). This is unusual because everyone believes Aidan’s straight. Now, thought, things look pretty impossible for both Aidan and Levi. But they make a drunken pact of sorts – it they’re both single a year from now, they’ll have sex.

Uh…okay…

Only two months later, Levi strolls into Aidan’s condo. Levi has been traded to Toronto and Aidan happens to have a spare bedroom in his condo (those condos are freaking amazing, by the way).

Aidan wants to do the right thing. After all, Levi is Aidan’s best friend’s brother. Sometimes, though, things get complicated. The men find a way to blend on the field action with in the sheets action.

Then a ghost from the past arrives and everything gets super complicated.

Throw in meddling a meddling family, supportive teammates, and the awesomest plays on the field and you’ve got a great book. I enjoy Beth’s books and this was no exception. There are three more and I can’t wait!

Hats off to Darcy Stark. I always love his narration and this book was no exception. Accents and all, he does a great job. Waiting eagerly…

Thank you, Beth & Neon Rainbow, for my audiobook copy of Perfect Storm narrated by Darcy Stark. The 1st Toronto Thunders book, set in Beth wider universe. Perfect Storm was full of cameos, including one I didn't see coming but am totally here for. Both MCs Aidan & Levi are siblings of characters from other books. I didn't realize how much I needed their story & their HEA. Both Aidan & Levi are trying to be respectful & guard their own hearts which in this Dual POV Football MM Romance will make readers rub their hearts. The Perfect Storm is full of heart, heat and HEAs.

If an audiobook could get your pregnant it would be this one. Basically, anytime Darcy Stark is portraying Levi 🫠🥵🔥 Enjoy a 5 second click by having your sound turned up whilst watching 😜
