What a story of child sexual abuse! Cassie has showed courage and determination to bring her life story to light and to have so many men brought to court and sentenced to jail. Well done Cassie.
Starting with the illness and death of her mother then physical abuse from her father, it left her vulnerable to those preying on easy targets for sexual abuse. Her vulnerability at the age of 10 left her open to believing their lies. What followed was incredible and she was lucky to come out alive! That the authorities did so little about it, even though they were told a number of times, allowed her suffering to to continue for years.

If you like books of the harsh realities of our time, with brilliant narration, and hard-hitting writing, read this! This lady is one of the bravest authors I’ve ever had the pleasure to read. Sometimes, we forget about other people in society, we go about our daily lives and don’t look around us at what’s going on, if you can, please do, because if someone had this young girl may have been saved from the harm that she encountered for four or more years of her life.When I was a young girl, I encountered a very similar situation, the difference between me and this author, is that I had two loving parents and when I explained what happened, they called the police. The man was immediately stopped in his tracks, and, his taxi drivers license removed, giving a warning I believe, to other people in the community not to try that one again! Yes, I was intimidated by his friends and family, yes, so were my friends, ultimately it was the love and support of my parents friends and the belief the authorities had inme that got me through. Had I had a different lifestyle and family, I could very easily have been where Cassie found herself.

Written by a brave lady about a scared and neglected child, this book is difficult to listen to.

This is a difficult but important book to listen to. Cassie is a very brave and strong woman, who didn’t have a chance in hell other than by her own strength of character, as everyone around her were too involved in their own selfishness or in ticking boxes.
I hope she is safe and well today.

Another story on the failures of a system that is outdated and not fit for purpose! When are we going to have a reform of social services. This poor girl could have had a very different life, had the service that are the to protect her done their job properly. I wish Cassie and her family the happily ever after they deserve.
