Discover the shocking thriller inspired by the true stories of a male prison officer in a women’s prison...

Greenwood returns with this compelling glimpse behind the bars of a women's prison. From a man who walked the landings himself...

Prison Officer Jim Dalton works on the male side of HMP Peterborough. It’s a dangerous place, fuelled by testosterone-driven violence, but he has the prisoners’ respect. When Dalton is transferred to the female side of the prison, his next shift is so easy he can’t believe that the officers over there get paid the same wages. He sleeps well for the first time in years.

Billie hasn’t had it easy in life, and she has earned the nickname Damage because she has been known to cause some! Ending up in prison might have been inevitable, but Billie hasn’t given up on her dreams yet. If there’s a way to get out of prison faster, she’s going to find it.

When Dalton is assigned to the young offenders’ wing, dealing with female prisoners no longer seems so simple, and in Billie he fears he may have met his match. As Billie starts to turn the screw, Dalton faces losing everything…

Not my usual genre but I really enjoyed it. Nice pace to it, voice narration engaging and good insights into a world I have no knowledge of, thankfully!

Authentic, a very good listen.

I thought this book was convincing and moving. I liked the slow pace because you have time to get drawn into the lives of the characters. I got so involved that I cried a lot.... but I don't want to put you off.... it is like life.

To be vulnerable is to be human

Ross Greenwood is the king of stories as far as I’m concerned. I’ve never listened to a bad book. Once again the story is fantastic, realistic and sad. Narration always on point. These two go together like tea and biscuits. A must listen.

Outstanding

I loved the narration, a lovely expressive voice. Can’t believe the character was so naive especially as depicted as an experienced officer.

Good listen but some parts of the story were frustrating
