I first read this book in the early nineties when it was first published and had fond recollections of it. I was a little bit apprehensive about whether it would have stood the test of time but when it appeared on sale in Audible I thought it was worth a try.

And I was not disappointed! Great voice acting by both narrators, the book style is "film noir" transposed to the Shadowrun world and it's a fun and gripping listen (or read).

I'm now going to investigate other audiobooks narrated by these two actors and other books written by Nigel Findley, although whilst listening to 2XS I found out that Mr Findley died at a fairly young age, only a few years after 2XS was published, which I was sad to learn.

Really fun story with two excellent voice actors

Oh, and an Irish secondary character is a freckled red-haired guy uniromically named Patrick.

What stood out the most? Misogyny. Cliches, boring toxic masculinity and constant casual misogyny.
