About this listen

PETE

I’ll do whatever it takes to make this big grumpy bear of a man fall in love with me. Some might say I'm crazy, that love at first sight isn't a thing.

Clearly those people have never had the pleasure of meeting Gavin Grumpy Bear Savenger.

GAVIN

My life is a never-ending battle with addiction and the guilt of losing someone I loved. The last thing I need is Pete Cliffer shining his beautiful light and trying to take me out of the darkness I live in.

But like a moth to a flame I go to him. I can only pray his light is bright enough to keep my darkness from swallowing him whole.

Although reading the first book is not needed, it does set up the world around the tattoo parlour, in book two we meet Pete and Gavin, Gavin is the owner of the Tattoo Parlour, whilst Gavin is a brother in law to one of the tattooist.

I love that it’s a grumpy/sunshine story at its best, you couldn't get more sunshine than Peter, and Gavin was the biggest grump going, but with good reason. Great story, would highly recommend.

Both men have good character backgrounds, and I love how the story brings in all the characters we've met from the previous book; however, you can read this as a standalone.

Sion Hardd did an great job of narrating this book. As usual, I sped up the recording to 1.20 on Audible.

I’m always hesitant to call someone a klutz. But if the shoe fits…

Pete’s clumsiness lands Gavin with a lapful of chicken wings – and in need of a ride home to change his clothes.

Pete to the rescue.

The initial lap incident happened in book 1, so I’ve been waiting for book 2 to be released on audio for some time and I’m so glad it has been!

Okay…so Pete’s a bit of a disaster area. He’s also optimistic, sunshine, and the most loving guy you could ever meet. When he sets his sights on Gavin, the man doesn’t stand a chance. That doesn’t mean, however, that he isn’t constantly fighting the attraction. Gavin tragically lost someone in his life years ago and after finding solace in the bottom of a bottle, he isn’t certain he’s worthy of redemption.

Except now he’s sober and running a tattoo parlor employing a wide variety of people – including ones from the LGBTQ community.

People love him – even if he denies it. Denies himself to pleasure of the company of friends. Tries to deny the joy of Pete.

This is definitely a grumpy/sunshine story and, as I hoped, Pete gets his way in the end. I mean, this wouldn’t be an Elamy Pride book if I didn’t get my happy ending.

Sion Harrd is a new narrator to me and I’ll say he did a really good job. Gavin’s deep voice suits a grumpy bear. Pete is slightly nasally, but it certainly didn’t detract from my enjoyment. I really hope there’s more to come!

This is the second volume of the Tattooed Series and can easily be read as a standalone. This time, it's about Gavin, the owner of the tattoo studio, and Pete, who is bursting with joy for life. It's a typical grumpy/sunshine novel. Gavin is the grumpy one here, but he's also a likeable character with an interesting past.
I liked how the author addresses rather dark and difficult topics such as addiction, grief, and guilt in a sensitive and readable way. The writing style is wonderful and I was quickly drawn into the story. The love story is beautiful and I really liked both characters.

Sion Hardd did a great job as narrator. He read very well and brought the story of Gavin and Pete to life.

A wonderful grumpy sunshine romance

This is the second in the series and can be listened to as a standalone.
It is about Pete and Gavin.
Pete is twenty-five years old and is sort of a clutz. He even gets fired the first day on the job at the library. Pete is also so lovable. He has the biggest heart. He gets his mind set on a relationship with Gavin. Pete also is a persistent guy. When he sets his mind on something there is no letting go. The only problem is Gavin has numerous reasons not to get involved with Pete even though there is this attraction between them.
This story sure held my attention and gave me a number of laughs. These two together just don’t seem to match until they do.
This is the first I’ve listened to in the series but I plan on catching up.
The narration by Sion Hardd sure gave life to the characters. I will enjoy listening to more of him.

Pete is a bit flighty and sunshine personified.
Most people don't take him seriously but he's determined to get what he wants and that's Gavin.
Gavin carries a world of pain and guilt, not to mention his struggles with addiction.
He's also very leery of their 12 year age gap and doesn't understand what Pete sees in him.
He's terrified of letting someone in, especially someone as good and light as Pete because he doesn't want to ever be the cause of his shine going dim with his issues.
I loved how realistically the heavy topics were dealt with, there wasn't a magic fix, just hard work and fighting every day.
Sionn Hardd did an amazing job narrating and bringing these characters to life.
