Local pharmacist and pillar of the community, Idris Khan, spends his days doling out methadone to the hundreds of addicts in his care. They trust Idris with their secrets, and so he knows more than his mild manner suggests. So when his childhood sweetheart, Rebecca, doesn't turn up for her daily methadone dose, Idris is worried. Worried enough to go looking for her in the most deprived area of Leeds, alone.
The mess Idris finds catapults him into the middle of a turf war between the two most powerful drug cartels in Yorkshire. Now, he must use every bit of intelligence and cunning he has to keep those he loves safe.
Because a war is on the way. And when Idris goes after his enemies, they won't see him coming.

I had the audiobook read by Adonis Siddique who is excellent.
I didn’t read the blurb or any reviews I went in blind as it came so highly recommended by Avid Readers Club blog.
WOW what I have just listened to!
So dark, gritty, totally unexpected and totally blown me away.
The main character is Idris Khan a community pharmacist whose practice is in a deprived neighbourhood and running a methadone program.
It’s fast paced, thrilling, morally grey/ black. It’s got subterfuge, action, romantic interest, and it looks like there’s more to come. Bring it on!
I was rooting for Idris throughout.
The plotting is clever, tight and uses chemistry, so brain over brawn with this storyline.
This is straight into my books of the year. If you love Virdee or Luther you’ll love this. But those whose comfort zone is Midsomer murders be warned this is dark and gritty although there’s no excessive description of gory stuff.
Part of me wishes I hadn’t waited so long to listen to it, it’s been on my shelf some time, the other part wishes that I still had it to experience for the first time. My advice, just jump in asap.
This WOWED me
