About this listen

From award-winning author, Katy Summers, comes another perfectly pitched romcom that will steal your heart away. Narrated by Stuart Martin (star of star of Miss Scarlet and The Duke) and Emily Atack (star of Rivals).

Sydnie De Grado’s a bonafide girlboss who isn’t looking to settle down; she’s been there, done that, twice. When her dad unexpectedly announces he’s selling their not-for-profit tech firm she’s torn between family loyalty and a suspicion that something isn’t right… especially as the deal hinges on a chatbot that’s not even ready for market yet.

But then Syd finds an unlikely ally in Nathaniel Caldwell, the quiet CEO at the company trying to buy them out.

Nate’s heir to a vast business empire and a title that will one day make him a Lord, but under his polished exterior lies someone very different. Forced to mask his autism and hide his creativity, Nate’s set aside his dreams of Broadway musicals to become the tech-savvy businessman his father demands.

As the deal gathers pace, it’s all-hands-on-deck to test the chatbot. When Syd and Nate take a road trip for a family business summit in the Scottish Highlands, an undeniable attraction sparks. But Nate doesn't do casual relationships, and Syd’s allergic to commitment, so there’s absolutely no danger of crossing any lines, right?

Under the pressure of a deal neither of them believes in, and parents who force them to be something they’re not, they each turn to the safety of the chatbot to bare their souls. But as the conversations grow deeper, the technology begins to feel eerily human – almost as if they’re not speaking to a bot but someone who really sees them…

Meddling families, corporate intrigue, and a romance for the ages, The Code of Love is the literary love child of You’ve Got Mail and Succession. Blending her trademark wit with emotional depth, Katy Summers delivers a whip-smart romantic comedy about ambition, authenticity, and finding love where you least expect it.

I loved the first book by this author for its complex characters, it’s great representation, and a story that fits seamlessly with the growth and development of the protagonists. The Code of Love has all of this and more.
I really enjoyed how the story cleverly shakes up your classic romantic tropes to make them new and exciting, breathing fresh air into familiar scenarios. The turn of phrase, humour, and narrative arcs were simply wonderful.

Where a lot of romcoms rely on the standard perception of neurodivergence, without understanding how it genuinely impacts characters and narrative arcs. I love how she made sure to properly explain key concepts and their impacts on daily life without making it the entire focus of the book. I loved how she describes the feelings/sensations of the neurodivergent character, seeming to capture all of those moment that are so difficult to articulate, making them relatable/humourous/heartbreaking.

What Summers has done is no mean feat - by writing a second book that is so thoroughly enjoyable after a trailblazing debut is a total triumph. Counting the moments for next one!

A second book triumph! A must read

I absolutely loved this perfect , imperfect love story. Covered so many shame to love subjects. Perfectly done. Absolutely loved the narrators. I could see the characters , feel their emotions. Cried like a baby. Laughed like a weirdo in public. Well done ❤️🤩

Funny, engaging, believable, well written and performed. A bit spicy in some sections, but still well written. Will definitely be following this author.

I really enjoyed Love Rebooted and was THRILLED to discover this was Sid’s story with a glimpse of Livs in there too. Thank you!

I am not sure if the words I say would do this justice but this was fantastic!!!! if there was a dislike it would be the swearing but even that is in context and character! Felt every emotion as a woman learning how to love again and as a mother of a 25yr autistic daughter who tells me she loves me everyday with a hug. Part of me hopes that one day, as confusing trying the path of love can be, my prayer is that my daughter may experience love like this in her now adult self and that her feelings are as valid as portrayed in this story.
Thank you so much.
