You'll do anything to get your daughter back . . .

Lauren can't wait to see her daughter again, to pick her up from university at the end of her first term. But when she arrives at her hall and knocks on the door to her room, a stranger opens it.

At first, Lauren thinks she must have the wrong room, or the wrong floor. Maybe even the wrong building.

But she soon realises the truth: Evie's not there. She hasn't been there for weeks. So where is she?

Following one family's desperate race against time as one terrifying moment unravels into a living nightmare, The Daughter is the unmissable new heart-in-mouth thriller from the Sunday Times bestselling author of The Holiday, The Mother and The Dream Home.

I nearly didn’t bother with this book because of the negative comments in the reviews about the narration. Having listened to the sample I decided I liked Louise Brealey’s style and was so glad I persevered. A cracking story full of suspense with some great characters all perfectly delineated. Actors put in an enormous amount of time and preparation before spending days inside a small recording studio bringing a book and all it’s characters to life. Of course it’s the listeners prerogative to criticise the end product, but to be so damning is quite hurtful and could have a bearing on recording companies about their future employment. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I thought the narration was great.

A really enjoyable page turner and I liked the narration!

Loved this story. Read it in 3 sittings. Every parent’s nightmare. Could feel the disbelief, sheer terror and frustration of the mum searching for her daughter who has disappeared. Recommended.

Fast pace, terrifyingly credible story.

The story line was good, and really descriptive as I’ve come to expect from T M Logan.
But the narration was making the story boring, and at times I felt like abandoning the audible in favour of reading the book.
It might be me as I am an animated person with lots of reading expression, and this narration didn’t give me that excitement to listen

Monotone narration made this hard going

The plot and the rrhythm of the narration. A mix between domestic drama and taut thriller

Racy
