After a big move, I felt totally disconnected and unsure how to build a new circle of real, meaningful friendships—not just acquaintances. This really opened my eyes to how much mindset matters and how we often self-sabotage without realizing it. The mix of honest advice, reflection prompts, and communication tips helped me reach out to a few women I'd met at work and in community spaces. Now, I’m seeing real connections forming. It’s helped me show up more intentionally and be less afraid of vulnerability. Wish I’d heard this years ago.

This was so refreshing to listen to with my wife. Things have changed so much in the last 30 years with the rise of the internet and thus, social media, dating sites etc. Many people have become socially withdrawn and building real lasting friendships have taken on new challenges as the 21st century has progressed. Jessica talks about the impact that social media has had on friendships and ways to build lasting online connections. She also has a great chapter on strengthening existing friendships. The most helpful part of the book for her was how to make new friends in real life and not just online. It's something that should be natural but we both feel it's become harder in the last few years. It's a really well written and narrated audiobook.
