It’s July 1478, and business is good for Bristol’s bakers during the lead up to Lammastide – “Loaf-mass”, the ancient harvest festival. This should on paper be very good. The history is well researched, the story is paced with ups and downs that keep you interested and guessing - however something is missing. Not sure whether it was the naration or lack of dimensions within the characters, but the effect presented was more like a childrens story, however the subject matter was definitely not for kids!
