About this listen

A haunting mystery. A legacy of loss. A car that never forgets.

When a grieving mechanic restores a forgotten 1960s red coupe, he doesn’t realize he’s resurrecting more than just steel and chrome—he’s awakening something that should have stayed buried.

Years later, the car finds new owners: a young couple planning their dream wedding, unaware of the vehicle’s tragic past. What begins as a symbol of love quickly spirals into a chilling series of events, connecting strangers through unexplainable encounters, eerie memories, and deadly consequences.

As lives unravel and secrets surface, one question remains: Can something once broken ever be truly whole again?

The Red Car is a gripping story of grief, mystery, and the thin line between the past and the present—where every mile comes with a memory, and some memories refuse to fade.

The narrator did an amazing job making the car sound almost alive during the scary scenes. It is a simple story but it is told so well that you really get sucked into the world. The mechanic feels like a guy who just wants a fresh start, but the car has other plans for him and his future life.

Such a creepy vibe

Started this expecting a simple mystery.

Got something way heavier.

There’s this slow tension that builds without you really noticing it at first. Just a car, just a project… until it clearly isn’t. The atmosphere is what makes it work. It creeps in instead of jumping out at you.

What I liked most was how grounded it felt. The grief, the obsession with the car, the way things slowly shift. It all feels believable right up until things get… not so normal.

The narration adds a lot. Steady, a little eerie, never overdone.

I found myself wanting to keep listening just to figure out what was actually going on, and even when you think you’ve got it, it still keeps you guessing.

If you like stories that build tension instead of relying on cheap scares, this one sticks with you.

It was very interesting to hear how a beautiful piece of machinery could be used as a vessel for something so mean and angry. The red coupe is a classic for a reason, but the one in this story is definitely something you would never want to park in your own driveway at home. The mystery moves along at a good pace, focusing on the work being done in the garage and the strange things that happen when the sun goes down. It is a very simple but very spooky ride that kept me hooked on every single word.

A very scary coupe

Listening to this had a quiet, eerie feel that slowly builds as the story unfolds. The idea of the car carrying memories across different people’s lives was what really stood out. It’s less about jump scares and more about that unsettling feeling that something isn’t right. Jared Masar’s narration adds to the mood and keeps the tension steady. A good pick if you enjoy mysterious stories with a darker emotional edge.
