I had no expectations of these books, I downloaded them because they were free. They are so engaging! A great mix of realistic characters, mystery, science fiction, world building, a little romance, and real humour later in the series. I usually read classics and literary fiction but wanted something easier. These are definitely easy, and they are intelligent, not cringey like one might expect (I admit I expected to cringe). I enjoyed learning about ancient Rome and the Mogul empire to boot, and Sophie is a brilliant heroine! Thank you for opening up new worlds to me, Rosalind Tate. I will be looking at more of your books.
