THE FIRST BOOK IN THE THE COUSINS' WAR SERIES FROM INTERNATIONALLY BESTSELLING AUTHOR PHILIPPA GREGORY

One woman at the centre of England's most enduring royal mystery.

Elizabeth Woodville was an ordinary woman before her marriage to King Edward IV elevated her to the throne of England. Determined to secure the future of her family, she fought fiercely for her children and her place at court. But when her two young sons became the centre of one of history's greatest unsolved mysteries, her legacy was transformed forever.

Set amid the turmoil of the Wars of the Roses, The White Queen tells the story of Elizabeth's extraordinary rise to power and the mystery of the Princes in the Tower in a captivating family drama.

I just love how Phillippa writes of the women during these troubles times in England, this like many others was a book I was unable to leave for too long and each character is painted well for the reader / listener. I did struggle to get used to the narrators accent .. perhaps a little South African twang at times but by the end of the book it wasn’t a problem.

We liked the historical facts and how the story was told. On occasion the story was a little to detailed but overall a good story told well

Didn’t adore this one. It was fine and I finished it but it was way off the style and tone of lady of the rivers. Also the characters were so different in this. Example - jacquetta was absolutely unlikeable here as was richard woodville - totally different to the previous book. As if it was about a difference family.
Dreadful narration. Really a slog to get to end.

Not as enjoyable as prior in series

I have listened to several Philippa Gregory audiobooks and have loved them, but not this one.
I found it very heavy going. Too much description. Very dull and monotonous. I didn’t enjoy the narration at all. I need to leave it a while before I choose another of her stories. So disappointed.

Struggled to finish this.
