About this listen
Call it fate, call it luck, but when a powerful wolf shifter walks into my life, everything changes.
Bel
I’ve made some stupid decisions in my life, and one in particular keeps coming back to haunt me. When I keep running into a handsome stranger, I know I should push him away, if only to keep him safe from my mess, keep him safe from me. But something inside of me—my heart, my magic, or my soul—keeps pushing me toward him, offering to make all my secret dreams come true. And I don’t know how to stay away.
Remi
When I travel across the world to open a new business—and get away from my overbearing family—the last thing I ever expect is to find the most beautiful and alluring fae I’ve ever met. I’m drawn to him, and I’m pretty sure if he lets his guard down, he’ll admit he’s drawn to me too. All I want to do is pull Bel into my arms and protect him from whatever he’s hiding. But he’s skittish and suspicious, and I just want to prove to him that he can trust me.
Fate, and a bit of luck, brought us together, and I’m not going to let it or anything else tear us apart.
The Wolf’s (Un)Lucky Fae is a part of the multi-author series, Fortune Favors the Fae. From spicy to sweet, zany romps to epic adventures, there’s something for everyone in this mystical series. Discover destiny and true love and follow the coin on its fickle journey to the next world and a new magical adventure.

The book can be read as a standalone, but is embedded in a series that several authors have co-written.
The writing style is, as always, very good. The world-building is detailed and I could easily imagine the world and surroundings of Gauhala. Gauhala is a place where the humans look down on the Fae and don't treat them particularly well. The Fae Bel meets Remi because of a magical coin. Remi is a wolf shifter who runs a security company. In order to expand it, he has moved to another country with friends and discovers that the people there have a different way of dealing with other Spzies than in his home country.
Bel feels attracted to Remi right from the start. And Remi treats Bel well, but Bel is and remains suspicious. The chemistry between the two is fantastic, as is their development. But Bel has a secret that could potentially destroy their budding relationship. He tries to give Remi clues. But can Remi interpret them correctly?
I found the story very entertaining. It is cleverly thought out with a few twists and surprises, deep feelings, hot romance as well as drama and danger.
Michael Lesley is a fantastic narrator. He portrayed the characters appropriately, giving each one a unique and memorable voice so that the listener always knew immediately who was speaking. He captured and conveyed the emotions perfectly, making the listener feel as if they were in the middle of the story. As I said, this was my first time listening to Michael Lesley, but I will definitely be looking out for more audiobooks with him. He brought the story to life in a very entertaining way.

Italso took me awhile to get used to Bel's voice because I found it to be the voice of a pompous a**hole.

Step into another unique fantasy world crafted by Michele Notaro. The characters are not just characters, they are living beings with a rich back story that you can easily immerse yourself in. The MM Fae world is a place of wonder and mystery, waiting for you to explore.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story and would recommend it. However, I did have a little trouble with Bel's voice, but not enough that I stopped listening. It's a pity this book is a standalone; I hope they develop it into a series.
This is the second narration I've listened to by Michael Lesley. Both were well narrated, with the exception of Bel's voice, which I found a bit grating. However, this didn't ruin the book for me. I sped up the narration to 1.15 on Audible, which is my norm, and it made the experience more enjoyable.

🎧📚🎧 Michael Lesley did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who he was portraying, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who was who. He set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’s emotions and had you feeling them all. Lesley is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thanks for the fabulous listen.

I enjoyed it although I had a few issues:
* Remy was a tad too perfect. There was a point where I was waiting for anger and conflict, even for just a few hours, but it never came. You'll know where I mean when you read it.
* Bel drove me to distraction with his 'woe is me, I'm not good enough for him'. I mean I got it but it was wearing.
* The narrator (who is new to me) did a great job overall but I didn't like the voice he used for Bel. I get that this is fantasy world and accents wouldn't necessarily fit our countries, but it sounded too close to a bad Irish accent that it was jarring to my ears. I got used to it over time but I didn't like it.
* Why bring all of Remy's family in to make a plan and then not implement that plan at all.
Despite the issues I had, I liked Bel and Remy as a couple. I also liked their friends, especially the gargoyle Tyrell, and I'm guessing the author is setting this up be the start of a spin off series. Other couples I'm expecting:
Tan and the Dragon King
Bel's cousin and his vampire bookstore owner friend
Overall a fun audio read that whiled away several dull hours in the car.
