Not to sound dramatic, but I can’t decide if I’m a hot mess, a has-been…or both.

There’s nothing quite like being in the spotlight at my lowest point. I could use a break from LA and my agent just for a little while. But Vermont in the middle of a blizzard? Probably not a great idea. However, the sexy lumberjack who lives next door is a sweet surprise. And so are his kids and the town.

The blurb piqued my curiosity, so I was eager to read the story.
Silas has ended his NFL career, and his marriage has fallen apart. To get out of the city, he moves to Vermont temporarily.
The writing style of the story was wonderful, and I quickly found myself right in the middle of a snowstorm alongside Silas. I didn’t find the fact that Silas ended up there all that thrilling, since there were definitely warnings. But it was great for the story, because it forced Silas and Cooper to grow closer. After all, Silas was definitely suffering from hypothermia, and a hospital stay wasn’t an option for him.
The story is told alternately from the perspectives of Cooper and Silas, both of whom have separated from their wives. A highlight was Cooper’s children, who were very refreshing. I could feel the chemistry between Silas and Cooper, and I thought the development of their relationship was great. What I didn’t like so much was that their former partners came up quite often, in my opinion, but I think that’s also somewhat normal. Cooper is a great character, a safe haven for Silas, who is grateful for honest love.

I found the book entertaining. Nick J. Russo has once again done an exceptional job and brought the story to life. It was a pleasure to listen to him. He has a pleasant voice, a good pace, and has chosen fitting voices for the different characters.

Enjoyable listen, loved Cooper, & the kids and how they all interacted with Silas. This story gave cosy by the fire read. Finding love again after divorce. Sweet story, good HEA.

Narration was great as always. I look forward to more stories from Wood Hollow.

I loved this! My first book by the author and it’s a very easy light read. Extremely low angst, but still a little tension. Both MCs were very likeable and I appreciated them being older than 19 with responsibilities and life experience. The side characters were good and the kids were exceptionally well written. It’s a feel good small town vibes read with some spice!
My only complaint is that the ending felt a little rushed. I’d have liked to see a bit more of them becoming settled and happy, even just a chapter or two before the epilogue would have been nice. It felt a bit abrupt to end where it did. But still a nice read and a good cleanser between heavier or darker books.

This will be a re-listen when I need a break from darker content for sure!

Audiobook - excellent narration, with clearly distinguishable voices.
Story - a low angst small town story, without the overdone Hallmark feels. The children were well written, and the growing relationship between Silas and Cooper was really believable. The way they met was particularly interesting, and their ages and previous experience with the same gender refreshing. A very satisfying ending which left all the characters happy.

These guys..oh they had me from the very start. This author is becoming a go-to for me for cosy, low angst romance and when it's narrated this well? I just devoured the book. The small town vibes were great and I just wanted to live in their world.
