I love a good zombie book or film and this hits the spot. Yes it’s got all the usual tropes eg bites and noggings being bashed in but it also has believable characters and a we get a lot of backstories which I like. Plus it’s well read.

Let me start by saying I HATE zombies that aren’t zombies - ie fast (why would death/decay ever IMPROVE physical condition?¿) or smart (because again, they’re dead).

Stickler that I am for undead literature, I absolutely love this book’s take on the pure, unhurried terror of classic zombies and the resulting social collapse that follows in their wake. Told from the perspectives of several characters, we know as much as they do as it all unfolds, and just like one would expect, no easy answers/explanations are given for just how this is possible or can be resolved.

Didn’t have my hopes up at first, but was pleasantly surprised by the well-paced plot, solid narration and evocative prose. Would definitely recommend to fellow zombie lovers!
