I loved the story I'm a history fan, but the narration just didn't do it for me, the other books I listened too had me hooked straight away great narrator's but I kept stopping with this one. I'll stick with the others but won't bother with this.

Thoroughly enjoying this book, and glad to see there are two more in the series.

Set shortly after Henry Tudor has defeated Richard II, the main character defies his father and, leaving his family's smallholding and village behind, runs off to prove himself as a warrior.

I'm very much looking forward to discovering what happens next. Visitors meant I had to pause my listening at Chapter 9, this morning .......and while we've had a nice time I'm glad I can now get back to the book!

An interesting story based upon accepted history, most of which I had a vague knowledge of, viewed through the eyes of a tearaway youth in his development as a soldier and his subsequent career with his brothers in arms. Let down by some dreadful mispronunciations, which really should have been picked up on by any half competent director or editor, and corrected.

This is a good story with interesting characters. I’m sad that so many words were able to jar the tale because of the mispronunciation!

This tale of a young man finding friends and meaning as a soldier was perfectly fine but just didn’t do for me. None of the characters really grabbed me and the narration felt quite one-note. There were also too many wrongly pronounced words to ignore.
