It really made a couple of long car journeys fly by, and we were so engaged by it that, at the end of one journey we had to sit for 10 minutes until the end of the chapter. After a slightly scary prologue, I was a little worried that it might cause a sleepless night.

But this is a proper "boys adventure" of a book. People die, crimes are committed, lessons are learnt. Boys scrap, girls are fought over.. and my lad LOVED it. And it was re-assuring to find that no-one was struggling with "identity issues". No boxes need ticking for a book like this, just the ones marked "fun" and "adventure".

Nathaniel Parker does a fantastic job of narrating this, and has all the accents spot on.

I do wonder and worry about when the usual suspects with no imagination or talent will start accusing narrators of doing "accent voice" and try and have books like this deleted. But for now, enjoy! We did.

I have always loved this series and having Nathaniel's voice narrate it was a brilliant experience.
