We are thrilled to bring you our podcast featuring guests from all over the Alberni Valley and beyond. These folks, most of them decades long residents/business owners in the area have wonderful stories to share. That's where we come in! We find the storytellers then visit them in their homes or setting of their choice and then....we open the microphones! This one describes the idea then watch for a new episode published weekly or at least every other week.

  • From pain to purpose - a conversation with Jeff Cook
    May 30 2026

In this week’s episode, we sit down with a remarkable community member whose life story is one of resilience, humility, and generosity. After enduring the hardships of residential school, he chose a path not defined by bitterness, but by compassion, service, and giving back to others. Known throughout the community for his tireless volunteer work and quiet leadership, he was recognized as Citizen of the Year in 2017 — an honour many feel could not have gone to a more deserving person. This conversation is honest, inspiring, and deeply human, reminding us all of the power of forgiveness, healing, and community spirit.

Most in Port Alberni have never heard of our local university. The university was the brainchild of a fellow who unfortunately was permanently injured on the job - 5 days in back in 1977. He didn't give up and instead he found ways to support injured persons by creating this incredible learning opportunity that now reaches dozens of countries worldwide. Do yourself a favour and listen in to a man that I consider to be a local hero.
