Friend, I’ve been there...

This podcast inspires REAL moms with REAL homes and REAL budgets to transform their houses into homes they love. You will learn affordable and practical decorating tips, tricks, DIY tutorials, and more. I teach home owners how break through the barrier of what’s keeping them stuck in their home design, while also encouraging them to tell their home’s story from within by living a life of intention with the people they share their home with. My mission is to equip you with all the how-tos so you can decorate a home you love walking in to; a home you are confident in, that feels cozy and comfortable; a home that feels cohesive and put together.

Hey, I’m Dani - a former First Grade teacher turned home decorator. Going from a dual income to a single income so I could stay home with my babies meant budget - like Ramen eating, Goodwill shopping budget and I learned a few things along the way: how to bring BIG style to your home without breaking the bank. And I’ve put it all together in this podcast so you know where to start, what to buy and where to hang it!

If you’re ready to break free from the Pinterest perfect trap and decorate your home with style by making confident decisions (all without taking out a second mortgage) - this podcast is for you!

So put down that sledgehammer, grab your paintbrush and let’s get started!

  • 399 // 5 Stores, Countless Finds: My Budget Decor Shopping List
    Jun 12 2026

🌟🌟 ARE YOU CELEBRATING WITH US NEXT WEEK?!?!?!?! 🌟🌟

Join the 400th episode / 5 year celebration at: https://figandfarmathome.myflodesk.com/400

As we count down to Episode 400, I'm sharing one of the questions I get asked most often:

"Where do you shop for affordable home decor?"

The truth is, creating a beautiful home doesn't require a designer budget. It does require knowing where to shop, what to look for, and how to mix pieces from different sources to create a home that feels collected rather than cookie-cutter.

In this episode, I'm counting down my five favorite places to shop for home decor on a budget and sharing exactly what I buy from each one.

    In this episode:

#5: IKEA More than just furniture! I'm sharing my favorite IKEA staples, including pillow forms, curtains, frames, plants, candles, kitchen storage, and the white dinner plates that serve as the foundation for nearly all of my tablescapes.

#4: Target One of my favorite sources for throw pillows, blankets, and bath towels. You'll hear my favorite shopping strategy: finding inspiration from higher-end retailers and then looking for similar styles at a more approachable price point.

#3: HomeGoods The perfect place for unique finds that aren't showing up in every home. I'm always on the hunt for picture frames, artwork, candles, and those unexpected treasures that make a home feel personal.

#2: Etsy When I want artwork, handmade decor, custom pillow covers, or beautiful curtains, Etsy is my go-to. Yes, handmade pieces often cost more, but they bring character, craftsmanship, and uniqueness that mass-produced decor simply can't replicate.

#1: Thrifting My absolute favorite way to decorate on a budget. Thrifting is where curated homes are built—but only if you know what you're looking for. I'll share why understanding your aesthetic is the key to successful thrifting and how it can save you from frustration while helping you create a home that looks collected over time.

  • 398 // Why most builder-grade homes feel cold, generic and a bit boring (and how to fix it) | 5 Minute Fix
    Jun 9 2026

New builds are supposed to feel exciting…so why do so many builder-grade homes feel a little cold, flat, or even generic once you move in?

In today’s Five Minute Fix, we’re talking about one of the most common frustrations I see: loving your home on paper, but struggling to make it feel personal, warm, and custom once you’re actually living in it.

Because here’s the truth: It’s not that your home is “bad.” And it’s not that you need a full renovation.

Most builder-grade homes are designed to be safe, neutral, and broadly appealing—which often means they come without the layers, contrast, and character that make a space feel truly finished.

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • Why builder-grade homes often feel cold or generic (even when beautifully decorated)
    • The biggest mistake people make when trying to “fix” a new build feel
    • Why adding more decor usually doesn’t solve the problem
    • Simple, high-impact ways to add character and personality without renovating
    • How layering, contrast, and intentional choices create a custom feel over time

This is one of those shifts that changes everything—not because you’re starting over, but because you finally understand how to see your home differently.

And if you’ve ever looked around and thought, “I don’t hate my home…I just wish it felt more like me,” this episode will give you a completely new perspective.

Ready to go beyond quick fixes?

Inside The Collective, I teach you how to layer, style, and pull your home together so it feels cohesive, intentional, and deeply personal—without guessing, overbuying, or starting from scratch.

  • 397 // The difference between a decorated room and a designer room (and the secret to doing it in your home)
    Jun 5 2026
The Difference Between a Decorated Room and a Designer Room

Ever wonder why a room can have all the "right" furniture and decor but still feel unfinished?

More often than not, the answer comes down to styling.

In today's episode, I'm sharing the exact process I use to style coffee tables, consoles, dressers, shelves, kitchen counters, nightstands, and other flat surfaces so they look intentional rather than cluttered.

Because here's the thing: styling isn't about adding more stuff. It's about creating visual interest, balance, and cohesion so your home feels thoughtfully designed.

    You'll learn how to:

    • Determine the purpose of a flat surface before styling it
    • Edit and curate decor so your styling doesn't become clutter
    • Choose an anchor piece that grounds the entire vignette
    • Use layering to create depth and visual interest
    • Incorporate texture for a more collected, designer look
    • Vary heights to keep your styling from feeling flat
    • Repeat design elements throughout the room for cohesion
    • Add the finishing touch that works in every decorating style

If you've ever struggled with coffee table styling, shelf styling, console table decor, or simply making your home feel more polished, this episode will give you a practical framework you can use in any room of your home. HINT: This episode is directly tied to our 5th year/400th episode celebration, so be sure to give it a try on any flat surface in your home.
