The guys jump right into it with Shohei Ohtani on the mound in the third inning. “I didn’t feel great,” he recalls as Shohei gave up a three-run homer. “If I could have it over, I would do the same thing, probably call a different pitch.” When it came to the ninth inning, Roberts praises Miguel Rojas. “Something in your gut, I felt like he was going to give us a good at-bat,” Roberts recalled. “For me it’s betting on people who would die on the field to help his team win. It just could not happen to a better guy.” At one point in the bottom of the ninth, the Dodgers had just a 9% win percentage, and Roberts admits to having a few negative thoughts. “I told myself to get out of that,” he remembers. Roberts even gets nervous watching the tape. “I know I lived it, but it coulda been a dream,” he says. “What are the odds of getting out of that inning without giving any runs? … But I can look out on that diamond and say there are 9 players who are dependable.”
