Most of us don’t struggle because we’ve never heard God’s commands. We struggle because we try to live them with the wrong fuel. We’re David and Tracy Sellers, and we’re digging into the Ten Commandments for marriage with a focus on the one command Jesus says sits above them all: love the Lord your God with everything you are, and love your neighbor as yourself. When that becomes the center, the commandments stop feeling like a cold rulebook and start functioning like guardrails that lead to real freedom, peace, and closeness.

We also get honest about the inner war Paul describes in Romans 7, and why Galatians makes it clear that law keeping cannot make anyone right with God. The law exposes sin and points us to our need for Jesus Christ, while faith brings the power to obey from the heart. That’s not abstract theology. It’s marriage help for the couple who feels stuck in cycles of guilt, striving, or spiritual burnout and needs a better way forward.

From there, we apply two commandments directly to everyday family life. First, we talk about Sabbath as God’s gift of rest, worship, and unity. We challenge the nonstop schedule, the screen-based “rest” that never restores, and the idea that good things should crowd out the best things. Then we unpack honoring father and mother, including what it can look like when you’ve been hurt, how to set wise boundaries through leaving and cleaving, and how honoring parents can bless your marriage and model godliness for your kids.

If you want a stronger Christian marriage grounded in Scripture, take this with you, share it with your spouse, and let us know what part you’re going to put into practice. • The Ten Commandments Through A Marriage Lens
    Jun 29 2026

The fastest way to find what you worship is to look at what gets your attention when life feels tight. David and Tracy Sellers start with a simple sense of wonder about the universe, then bring it home: the same God who designed the cosmos also designed marriage, and His plan is not limited to your past or your honeymoon memories. If you’ve ever felt like God’s “rules” are heavy, we challenge that assumption with a different lens: His commandments are meant to protect, free, and realign our hearts.

We connect the Great Commandment to the real world of marriage, where loving your “nearest neighbor” can be the hardest assignment of the week. Why is it easier to be kind at church than to be gentle under your own roof after disappointment, conflict, or betrayal? From there, we walk through the first three of the Ten Commandments with practical marriage application: putting God first instead of keeping Him on speed dial, recognizing modern idols like comfort, success, consumerism, and control, and seeing how idolatry quietly reshapes priorities, time, and intimacy.

We also unpack “do not take the Lord’s name in vain” as far more than avoiding a phrase. Our words, our tone, and the way we talk about our spouse can either strengthen our witness or sabotage it. With James 3 as a warning about the tongue, we point to a better starting place: asking God to change the heart so the mouth follows. If you want a biblically healthy marriage built on trust, obedience, and grace, this is a grounded next step. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs hope, and leave a review so more couples can find it.

  • Living Upside Down
    Jun 22 2026

Fair feels natural in marriage. Grace does not. When we follow our instincts, we often aim for control, payback, or the bare minimum, then wonder why the same fights keep repeating. We dig into why rules can manage behavior but never create the deep heart change a Christian marriage needs, and why Jesus goes straight after what is happening beneath the surface.

We’ve been studying the Sermon on the Mount, and the message is unmistakable: God’s kingdom economy is upside down. Jesus calls us to forgive when we want to punish, to serve when we want to be served, to pray when we want to judge, and to love most when our spouse deserves it least. We translate those commands into real, practical marriage moments like harsh words, old offenses resurfacing, unequal workloads, and the temptation to keep score.

We also share a personal story from our own life about choosing a small step of financial obedience and watching God provide in unexpected ways, not just to improve a bank account but to grow our faith. The thread tying it all together is simple and hard: amazement at Jesus’ teaching is temporary, but obedience plants truth deep enough to change the tone of a home.

If you want a biblically healthy marriage marked by forgiveness, compassion, and real transformation, listen now and take one concrete step today. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs hope, and leave a review that helps more couples find the path toward God’s design for marriage.
