  • A Pub Argument in Luton : Episode 505
    May 1 2026

What began as a celebration ended in devastating violence.

Pat Howard and Adam Fanelli were killed after a baby shower in Houghton Regis spilled out onto the street, where a confrontation escalated rapidly into a brutal and sustained attack. In front of multiple witnesses, the violence intensified - culminating in the use of both a vehicle and a knife. Along with Adam Fanelli, who was trying to defuse the situation, Pat suffered fatal injuries in a case which shocked the community.

Investigators reconstructed the events through CCTV, witness accounts, and forensic evidence, revealing a deliberate and relentless assault. In this podcast I look at events leading up to the two murders, the police investigation and how those responsible were brought to justice.

The events of that night remain a stark reminder of how quickly a minor argument can spiral out of control into shocking violence.

  • Murder At The Birthday Party: Episode 503
    Apr 24 2026

50-year-old Robert Powell was brutally murdered outside a party in Essex in what investigators believed was a planned, targeted hit - carried out in front of his two sons. A truly shocking and deeply distressing crime.

Thanks to determined and meticulous police work, the main suspect, Nana Oppong (pictured), was tracked down after fleeing the UK immediately after the killing. He travelled to Spain, before attempting to cross into Morocco hidden in the back of a lorry, using a fake Maltese passport. He was intercepted at Tangier Port and returned to the UK to face justice.

Oppong later stood trial for Powell’s murder - but his courtroom history added a dramatic twist. On three previous occasions, he had faced murder charges…and been acquitted every time. Would this be the fourth?

Living in the UK myself and being fascinated by true crime, this is exactly the podcast I need to hear about it. Well done guys!

Brilliant show!

I'm new to this podcast and pleasantly surprised. As many "fans" of the genre - I'm not sure if fans is the right word - I find true crime fascinating, I detest the "exciting" delivery style on many a Netflix documentary that glamourises the crime and/or perpetrator.

In contrast, this podcast looks at at the details of the crimes covered in a much more measured tone and Adam always takes time to remind the listener of the victims and their loved ones.

He praises and admonishes the police as appropriate to the specific case. This is unusual as many I have heard will make excellent police work sound surprising.

I love the musical and historical context given at the start of each episode.

The advertisements were a bit of a shock as I usually listen to audiobooks and podcasts without them but I'm steadily working my way through them so it can't be that off-putting!

I first came across this podcast on Spotify which was great for me but finding it here just makes me want to listen to every episode again!
I highly recommend if you are interested in true crime but prefer a short summary of cases, most episodes are 20 ish minutes so they're great for snapshots of events. Very easy listen!

A brilliant addition to my week
