A big part of Hindu and Indian mythology is the lengthy Mahabharata, with stories about princes, princesses, monsters, and many mysterious creatures. This comprehensive designation signifies that the book's content is presented by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda, who is revered with the honorific "His Divine Grace" and titles "Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda," indicating his spiritual stature and position as a master of devotional knowledge. Crucially, he is identified as the "Founder-Ācārya," meaning the founder and primary spiritual preceptor, of the "International Society for Krishna Consciousness,".

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi penned his commentary on the Gita while incarcerated in prison; called the The Gospel of Selfless Action. Mahadev Desai translated Gandhi's commentary into English from Gujarati and wrote an extensive commentary and introduction. Presented to his disciples at prayer meetings over a nine-month period in 1926, Mahatma Gandhi's commentaries on the Gita are regarded in India as among the most important of the century. In them, Gandhi addresses the issues he felt most directly affected the spiritual lives of common people.

Krishna - the name itself is somehow transcendental and evokes a certain distant familiarity and evocative longing. In fact, it is said the name of Krishna is not different from himself. The ancient Vedic scriptures also confirm that Krishna, as the supreme personality of Godhead, is, therefore, present in the sound vibration of his holy name.

संवत्‌ 1631 में तुलसीदासजी ने श्रीरामचरितमानस की रचना प्रारंभ की। दो वर्ष, सात महीने और छब्बीस दिन में यह अद्भुत ग्रंथ संपन्न हुआ। सुंदरकांड मूलतः गोस्वामी तुलसीदास कृत इसी श्रीरामचरित मानस का एक भाग है। सुंदरकांड में हनुमानजी द्वारा किए गए महान्‌ कार्यों का वर्णन है। मानस पाठ में सुंदरकांड के पाठ का विशेष महत्त्व माना जाता है। सुंदरकांड में हनुमान का लंका प्रस्थान, लंका दहन कर लंका से वापसी तक के घटनाक्रम आते हैं। साथ ही उनकी असीम शक्ति, बुद्धि-कौशल और अनन्य भक्ति का पता चलता है। सुंदरकांड का पारायण वाले साधक को असीम ऊर्जा और प्रेरणा प्राप्त होती है।

Like most Eastern traditions, Tibetan Buddhism has a rich tradition of mantra chanting and magick.
