My entrepreneurial spirit started early. Growing up, my dad, who was a controller for a manufacturing company, always told me, “The best way to know business is to know accounting.” He was right. For more than 40 years, I’ve been building businesses, transforming organizations, and investing deeply in people. While much of my career has been spent serving as a CFO, I’ve never believed leadership was simply about numbers. To me, it has always been about stewardship, innovation, transformation, and helping people become who they are capable of becoming. Throughout my career, I’ve led startups, turnarounds, and global initiatives across the insurance and financial services industries. I’ve worked throughout the United States, Europe, England, and Bermuda helping organizations navigate growth, technology integration, operational transformation, and leadership development. Along the way, I’ve overseen finance, technology, HR, marketing, operations, and strategic planning because I’ve always believed strong leaders need to understand how every part of a business works together. I’m wired to build, not simply maintain. Over the years, I became known as “not your typical CFO” because while finance was my responsibility, people and purpose were always my focus. I’ve spent decades building teams, mentoring emerging leaders, integrating technology with business strategy, and helping organizations create cultures that drive long-term success. Faith and work have also been deeply connected throughout my journey. For decades, my wife, Karen, and I intentionally built businesses and ministries side by side, helping launch churches, mentor leaders, and invest in communities wherever life and work took us. That perspective shaped who I have become and how I lead. After years of building companies and developing leaders, I realized many of the lessons that shaped my career were rarely being taught, especially within finance leadership. That realization led me to focus more intentionally on writing, speaking, mentoring, and consulting. It also inspired me to write The CFO Advantage: Elevate Your Role from Financial Technician to Visionary Business Leader. The book provides practical frameworks for becoming a high-impact CFO, building high-performing teams, and creating cultures that drive long-term success.
