Deane Waldman, MD, MBA is the author of award-winning "Become an Empowered Patient" (in Spanish as "Sé un Paciente Empoderado") and 14 other books as well as more than 450 articles and monographs. After fifty years as a pediatric cardiologist, educator, researcher, medical administrator and public policy advisor, Dr. Deane is in a unique position to help readers break free of the nightmare we call our healthcare system by becoming EMPOWERED PATIENTS. Together with Vance Ginn, PhD (Economics) and in conjunction with Americans for Tax Reform, Dr. Deane recently released the Empower Patients Initiative that will make medical care affordable and readily accessible by restoring spending authority to you, to We the Patients. As the oldest person in his class (age 55), he earned his MBA from Anderson Graduate Schools. Dr. Deane was Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at The Children’s Hospital of San Diego, The University of Chicago, and The University of New Mexico. He was also Director of Center for Healthcare Policy at Texas Public Policy Foundation and member of Board of Directors of New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange. Now Dr. Deane is Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics, Pathology and Decision Science.
