Hélène Landemore is a political theorist and Professor of Political Science at Yale University. Her work explores the foundations and future of democracy, with a focus on participatory and deliberative innovations. She is the author of Democratic Reason (Princeton University Press, 2013), which won the Spitz Prize, and Open Democracy (Princeton University Press, 2020), a widely influential book on citizen participation and democratic legitimacy. Her latest book, Politics Without Politicians (Penguin, 2026), offers a bold rethinking of democratic governance beyond elections.
