John L. Thompson is an American author, graphic artist, and publisher whose work spans crime fiction, speculative fiction, and men's adventure. Born in Tachikawa, Japan, he spent his early years traveling before settling in New Mexico, where his experiences in the trucking industry helped inspire many of his stories. In 2013, Thompson founded Dead Guns Press, an independent publishing imprint dedicated to crime fiction and adventure literature. He is the author of Truck Stop, Monkey Wrench, Cold Hearts and Other Stories, and Seven Years from Tomorrow. Since 2015, he has also collaborated with author Tony Roberts on the continuing Casca: The Eternal Mercenary series, serving as both co-author and cover designer on multiple titles. Drawing on decades of real-world experience, Thompson's novels blend authentic settings, memorable characters, and fast-paced storytelling with themes of survival, redemption, and the choices that define ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. He lives and writes in New Mexico.
