After close to 40 years in IT (from phone support => Sr. VP/CIO => owning his own consultancy), Mr. Matheny took a left turn at Albuquerque, NM. He was finally able to break the cycle of alcohol relapse that had been plaguing him for most of his career. In what can only be described as a spiritual awakening, he did a major pivot and wrote a book titled "Serenity Explained". From that inspiration, came the Serenity Explained Series. Most of his time now is spent coaching those in recovery, and the general public, on the finer points of serenity. Secondarily, he travels doing speaking engagements, both in the US and abroad. He uses that platform to highlight how to incorporate serenity into daily life. With speech titles like "The Pause", "The Cost of Serenity", "Leading with Serenity", "The Kindness of Serenity", and several others, he seeks to spread the Serenity Prayer's message among the general public, and not just the recovery community.
