Lorcan Pike is a speculative science fiction author whose work explores how technology reshapes identity, autonomy, and the stories people tell themselves to survive. His fiction blends dystopian settings with deeply human questions, often asking readers not just what a society does, but why it believes it is right. Early works examine themes such as the nature of selfhood through Ship of Theseus–style thought experiments, and the moral weight of punishment when choice and autonomy are stripped away. Pike is especially drawn to moments where systems meant to protect or improve life instead reveal uncomfortable truths about power, control, and complicity. A former child actor, Pike’s adult life has taken him through marketing, computer repair, and medical coding—experiences that quietly inform his interest in systems, optimization, and the human cost hidden beneath efficiency. He lives in the American Southeast with his wife and their three cats, who remain unimpressed by dystopian futures. As a teenager, Pike once met Isaac Asimov without fully realizing the significance of the moment—a mistake he now views as both humbling and oddly appropriate. He is currently writing speculative fiction intended to entertain first, unsettle second, and linger long after the final page.
