Miguel La Serna was born in Sacramento, California in 1980. He received his BA in History and Spanish at the University of California, Davis in 2002 and his Ph.D. in History at the University of California, San Diego in 2008. Currently, he is a professor of History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
