Wayne A. Van Der Wal, Ed.S., is an author, school psychologist, counselor, and founder of ProWorkTogether, a common-ground movement focused on reducing unplanned pregnancies, supporting women and families, strengthening personal responsibility, and encouraging prevention-focused collaboration. Wayne’s professional background includes work as a School Psychologist, School Counselor, and President of his State Association. He holds an Ed.S. in School Psychology, an M.A. in School Counseling, and a B.A. in Social Psychology. His experience in education, counseling, psychology, conflict resolution, and prevention has shaped much of his writing and his desire to help people navigate difficult personal, family, social, and cultural issues with greater honesty, empathy, and hope. His books include Pro-Choice. Pro-Life. Let’s Work Together, The Van Der Wal Effect, The Gospel of Santa Claus, and other faith-based, educational, and inspirational works. Across his writing, Wayne often explores themes of faith, family, personal growth, responsibility, healing, human dignity, and practical solutions for real-life challenges. In addition to his professional work, Wayne has served in a wide range of ministry and leadership settings, including Bible studies, college ministry, DivorceCare, jail ministry, inner-city ministry, men’s ministry, and youth ministry. His Christian faith deeply influences his desire to encourage people, strengthen families, build bridges, and help individuals find hope in difficult circumstances. Wayne grew up near Washington, D.C., in Falls Church, Virginia, and later moved to the Reno/Lake Tahoe area of Nevada. He enjoys meaningful conversations, sermons, worship, beaches, vineyards, travel, running, and movies. His two children helped inspire The Gospel of Santa Claus, a story written to illuminate and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. Wayne’s heart as an author is to encourage honest conversation, reduce unnecessary division, and help people work together toward healthier families, stronger relationships, and practical hope.
